Lovino works up the courage to confess to Spain, and Spain doesn't realize it's a love confession and accidently turns Lovino down (Or worse, implies he prefers Felicano) and Lovino becomes very withdrawn and miserable. So the race is on for Spain to prove to Lovino he loves him before Lovino moves on.
